SARA DEVINE

"There are singers who have the ability to hit the right notes and convey the emotion of the music. And then there are those for whom singing is more than just a talent they possess, it's more like their very reason for being, a force that drives them, a guiding passion of their lives. From an early age it was clear that Sara Devine was more than just a woman who could sing. She was a woman who was placed on this earth to do just that. That singing was in her heart, her soul, and that someday her undeniable passion and purpose would bring Sara's brand of R&B to a wider audience and allow her to bless the world with her voice." - Traxsource
Sara Devine was born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas. She is the second youngest of ten children.
Sara and her siblings sang with their mother in the church choir where their father was pastor. Her parents imparted their love of the spirit and of music to their children - all of whom sing and/or play an instrument.
While finishing her Masters of Arts degree at New York University, Sara found work doing background vocals, singing on commercials, singing in wedding bands, and cutting demos. All the while, she continued writing her own original music.
Soon after graduation, Sara performed at her first showcase in Greenwich Village and from that experience she put a band together and lined up a series of showcases to follow. After a few notable live performances at larger venues, Sara was offered a record deal by Columbia Records.
In 2003, Columbia Records released The Truth as a four-track Soul / Contemporary R&B EP. As the label went through staff turnover, Sara opted to re-release Take Me Home as her next single on Giant Step Records.
Following the radio success of Take Me Home, Sara was recruited by Louie Vega and she released her next single Special on Vega Records in 2005. That same year, she worked with Sterling Ensemble on their Vega Records single Life Ain't What It Seems.
Also in 2005, Sara began touring with major artists as a backing vocalist. For the next 14 years, she backed artists such as Alicia Keys, Mary J. Blige, Alejandro Sanz, and Steven Van Zandt.
Despite her busy schedule, Sara has remained dedicated to her art and she still writes and records new music. To date, Sara has continued to collaborate with other artists, including Louie Vega, Sterling Ensemble, Fanatix, Zepherin Saint, DJ Man-X, Steal Vybe, Chris Forman, Damon Bennett, Kenny Dope, and DeLouie Avant.
Sara is credited on dozens of releases. However her personal highlight is the credit for backing Aretha Franklin on her track "Wonderful" - which won a Grammy Award for Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance.
Today, in addition to her recording and writing new music, Sara is finishing a new pilot that will feature educational material and music for children.
